Why We Built This Site
Virginia’s public online case service is OCIS 2.0, which can help locate selected General District and Circuit Court case information. It is not a complete warrant search. Virginia State Police administers the Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) and supports participating agencies’ access to NCIC, but those systems are restricted and are not public search portals. The court’s file contains its orders and case details; the sheriff or police agency responsible for service can answer execution questions. Magistrates issue process statewide, and cases move through General District, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District, or Circuit Court as the matter requires. Virginia has no separate municipal court tier. We built this hub to explain what each public-facing source can show and where to continue when a case belongs to a particular county or independent city. A missing result in OCIS or a curated wanted list does not establish that no warrant exists.
What You Will Find Here
- Local records: the Browse Counties directory for county and independent-city routes to each locality’s records site
- Warrant searches: how to use public court-case tools and follow up with the court or local law-enforcement agency
- Warrant status: what an Active Warrant Search listing can show, and why a missing listing is not conclusive
- Missed appearances: how the Bench Warrant Lookup page relates to court dates and which Virginia court may hold the case
- Criminal process: how the Arrest Warrant Lookup page explains issuance and service under Virginia procedure
- Resolving a warrant: general steps for speaking with counsel and asking the issuing court about a hearing, bond, or recall
- State systems: what the Warrant Database shares with authorized agencies and what the public cannot search
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference site, with no affiliation to Virginia courts, Virginia State Police, a sheriff’s office, or any other government agency. Our role has clear limits:
- We cannot determine whether a particular person has an outstanding warrant or certify an official result
- We cannot arrange a court appearance, surrender, or warrant walk-through
- We cannot recall, quash, remove, or otherwise clear a warrant
- We cannot accept bond or other payments on a court matter
- We cannot advise how a warrant or charge applies to an individual case
- We cannot promise every contact detail, fee, or online status remains current
The issuing court can explain its order and case status. The sheriff or police department responsible for service can answer questions about execution. We can describe Virginia’s public tools and route you to the relevant locality, but only those official offices can confirm current process.
Search Partners
Some pages include search tools operated by outside providers. Those providers determine their own prices and terms. If a visitor reaches a paid service through one of our links, we may receive a referral fee that helps support the site. We do not control the provider’s charges or results, and those results do not replace an official Virginia court or law-enforcement confirmation.
